Ganapati Vandana
The Rigvedic invocation to Ganapati, lord of the hosts, traditionally chanted before any recitation or ceremony to invoke auspiciousness and remove obstacles.
ग॒णानां॑ त्वा ग॒णप॑तिं हवामहे क॒विं क॑वी॒नामु॑प॒मश्र॑वस्तमम् । ज्ये॒ष्ठ॒राजं॒ ब्रह्म॑णां ब्रह्मणस्पत॒ आ नः॑ शृ॒ण्वन्नू॒तिभिः॑ सीद॒ साद॑नम् ॥
gaṇānāṃ tvā gaṇapatiṃ havāmahe kaviṃ kavīnām upamaśravastamam | jyeṣṭharājaṃ brahmaṇāṃ brahmaṇaspata ā naḥ śṛṇvann ūtibhiḥ sīda sādanam ||
gananam tva ganapatim havamahe, kavim kavinam upama-shravas-tamam; jyeshtha-rajam brahmanam brahmanaspata, aa nah shrinvann utibhih sida sadanam.
We invoke you, O Ganapati, lord of the hosts, the seer among seers, most renowned, the supreme king of sacred prayers. O Brahmanaspati, hearing us, come with your protections and be seated at our place of worship.
